ABOUT US

A Movement Powered by Art

art against AIDS began with a simple but urgent belief — that conversations around HIV/AIDS need to be more open, more human, and free from stigma. In Malaysia, discussions around HIV/AIDS and sexual health are still often shaped by stigma, misunderstanding, and silence — creating barriers to awareness, testing, and support.

In a world where fear and misinformation still exist, AAA was created as a platform to shift perspectives — using art to spark dialogue, build empathy, and bring people closer to the realities of those affected.

What It Is Today

Held annually every December in conjunction with World AIDS Day, art against AIDS brings together artists, students, and communities to express, interpret, and challenge perceptions around HIV/AIDS and sexual health.

Through exhibitions, auctions, and creative collaborations, each artwork becomes part of a larger mission — to raise awareness, and to raise funds for communities in need.

Why Art

Some conversations are difficult to start. Art makes them possible.
It allows people to express what words often cannot — emotion, perspective, and lived experience.

“I’ve always believed that art speaks where words sometimes cannot. With art against AIDS, I’ve seen how creativity can bring people together in the most meaningful way — to understand, to empathise, and to care a little more deeply for one another. That is what keeps this initiative close to my heart.”

Origin

art against AIDS is an initiative by Karex Berhad — the world’s largest condom manufacturer, with a presence in over 150 countries.

Through its global brand ONE Condoms, Karex has continuously pushed boundaries in how sexual health is communicated — often through bold, creative, and culturally relevant ideas.

art against AIDS extends this approach beyond products — using art as a medium to spark conversation, challenge stigma, and connect with communities in a more human way.
