Dr. Hjh. Yatela Zainal Abidin
Chief Executive Officer, Yayasan Sime Darby

Armed with 24 years of experience with Sime Darby Berhad, Dr. Hjh. Yatela’s career journey includes holding major roles in the Group’s Corporate Assurance Department as well as the Values & Culture Department where she focused on spearheading corporate governance strategies and their implementation. She was then appointed as the first CEO of Yayasan Sime Darby.

After spending almost half of her career in philanthropy, she is constantly exploring initiatives that address the critical needs of today’s ever-changing society and environment. Her experience in Corporate Social Responsibility is reflected in the various projects undertaken by Yayasan Sime Darby in accordance with its five pillars – Education; Community & Health; Environment; Sports; and Arts & Culture.

Prof. Dato’ Dr. Adeeba Kamarulzaman
Chairman, Malaysian AIDS Foundation

Prof. Adeeba Kamarulzaman graduated from Monash University in 1987 and trained in internal medicine and infectious diseases at the Monash Medical Centre and Fairfield Infectious Diseases Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. She is the former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, from 2011-2020. She established the Centre of Excellence for Research on AIDS (CERiA) that conducts multi-disciplinary research on HIV ranging from clinical to public health and policy research.

Prof. Adeeba has used her clinical and academic leadership to engage in the national and community response to HIV/AIDS. She is currently Chairman of the Malaysian AIDS Foundation.

At the international level, Prof. Adeeba is presently the President of the International AIDS Society (IAS) and a member of the UNAIDS Scientific Expert Panel on HIV as well as a member of the WHO Science Council. Besides being an advisor to numerous WHO committees on HIV/AIDS, she also played a key role in the establishment and ongoing activities and collaborations of a regional HIV research network initiative – TREAT Asia.

Andrew Tan Tze Tho
Person Living with HIV, Malaysian AIDS Council and Kuala Lumpur AIDS Support Services Society (KLASS)

Andrew Tan, former executive committee member of the Malaysian AIDS Council and now vice president of non-profit Kuala Lumpur AIDS Support Services Society (KLASS), is living proof that with adequate access to HIV education, treatment, care and support, not only can one live with HIV but also grow old with it.

Andrew has done many road tours and talks on living with HIV and advocating for the end of discrimination towards people living with HIV as well as representing the community in various panels on talks about the PLHIV community. He has been featured in various media for his courage in telling his life’s journey such as Tatler Asia, BFM and numerous news outlets. Andrew is also one of the committee members of the Medicine Panel Review of the PAL Scheme run by the Malaysian AIDS Foundation.

Vanidah Imran
Actress and Red Ribbon Celebrity Supporter

Hailing from Penang Island, Vanidah Imran is a Malaysian actress, model and television host. She has been nominated for numerous awards and the highest peak of her career was in year 2007 when she received the Best Female Actress award at the 20th Malaysia Film Festival.

Vanidah is also actively involved in theatre such as Laila Majnun (1998), Tun Perak (2000) and Merdeka, Merdeka, Merdeka (2002). Her other notable theatre and film credits include Moh Ho Huan (2005), Mahsuri (2009) and Daulat (2020).

She became a Red Ribbon Celebrity Supporter in 2018 where she voices her support in raising awareness on HIV and AIDS as well as the need for comprehensive sexual and reproductive health education. Vanidah has hosted many events for the Malaysian AIDS Foundation and appeared in various media advocating for HIV and AIDS.

Dr. Anita Suleiman
Head Sector of Infectious Disease Control (HIV/STI/Hepatitis C), Ministry of Health

Dr Anita Suleiman, MD, MPH, EIPM, AMM, FPHMM is a Consultant Public Health Physician for almost 30 years of experience in public health programmes at various levels in Malaysia, i.e., in hospitals, health centres, district health offices, state epidemiologist and is presently working at the Division of Disease Control, Ministry of Health Malaysia. She has engaged in a wide range of public health issues including HIV/AIDS, other sexually transmitted infections, communicable diseases such as food water borne, airborne and vaccine preventable diseases, public health management and others. She has designed and managed public health issues and provided technical expertise at the district, state, national and global levels.

Currently, she is the Head Sector of HIV/STI/Hepatitis C, Ministry of Health, Exco member of Malaysian Alumni of Epidemic Intelligence Programme (EIPMas), Executive Committee of College of Public Health of Academy of Medicine, life member of Malaysian Public Health Physician Association, member of Discipline for Communicable Disease Epidemiologist and Executive Secretary for Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) on AIDS.
